Hand and overhead showers

What are the differences between the various spray modes in hansgrohe showers?

You can find information about the different spray modes in our guide.

My shower head is constantly dripping. What can I do?

If the shower fails to drain completely or at all after showering, this process may not take place for several minutes or hours. It all depends on the surface tension of the water. We recommend you try out the following tips here:

  • If your overhead shower features a ball joint, you can speed up the draining process by tilting the overhead shower after showering.
  • Carefully wiping the spray nozzles with a shower squeegee or by hand can also accelerate shower drainage, as this interrupts the surface tension of the water.
  • In addition, we recommend descaling the shower heads regularly, as this can also have a positive impact on drainage.

You can find instructions on the correct way to descale our products in this guide.

Only a little bit of water is coming out of the hand shower. What can I do?

A low flow performance may be caused by a dirty sealing screen. This video shows the cleaning process. The shower head itself may also be full of limescale. Instructions for correct descaling are shown in this video.

The nozzles on my rain shower are clogged, what should I do?

Clogged nozzles indicate that limescale deposits may have built up. In our guide, we show you how to descale your overhead shower and shower head. Many hansgrohe shower heads also feature QuickClean technology, meaning you can quickly and easily rub limescale and other residues off the silicone nozzles.

What is the function of the seal or filter screen between the shower hose and hand shower?

Sealing screens, which are included with every hand shower, cannot be replaced by normal seals. Otherwise, the dirt filtered out in the filter screen will get washed into the mechanics of the shower, which will lead to the QuickClean cleaning function not working or the sprays becoming clogged. This video shows how to clean the sealing screen.

What options do I have to better secure/stabilize a long shower arm?

When is a shower head water-saving?

Shower heads fitted with EcoSmart consume less water than hansgrohe showers without this clever water-saving technology. In specific terms: EcoSmart showers save up to 40% water, while EcoSmart+ showers save as much as 60%. This decrease in hot water consumption also means lower energy requirements. All in all, that means fewer CO2 emissions and lower costs. How much water, energy, and money can you save with EcoSmart? Use the hansgrohe water savings calculator to work it out!

How much water does a normal shower head consume?

Many people still have old shower heads that were made back when there were very few water-saving products on the market. Unfortunately, these outdated models can consume up to 15 liters per minute when people are showering – sometimes even more. That’s a lot of water per household, year on year! hansgrohe’s magic word is “flow limitation,” and the technology behind it is EcoSmart. EcoSmart technology reduces water consumption in the shower head to up to 8 l/min in overhead and hand showers, while EcoSmart+ products consume as little as 6 l/min at 3 bar. These economical showers enable you to save so much hot water, and therefore lots of energy.

What thread does a shower head have?

All hansgrohe hand showers feature a standardized G ½ connection thread. So they fit on all conventional shower hoses. hansgrohe shower heads can be purchased individually or in a shower set with a hose and shower bar.

Shower bars and Showerpipes

Can I shorten the riser pipe?

Depending on the model, riser pipes can be adapted to the interior design requirements and shortened. Please refer to the product’s installation manual to find out whether this is possible for your model. Or look in our online Spare Parts Shop.

I want to replace a shower bar without drilling new holes. Which one can I use?

Check the drill hole spacing. If it's 915 mm, all current 90 cm shower bars from our range can be used. If the spacing is 625 mm, all current 65 cm shower bars are suitable. If the drill hole distance differs from the above, we recommend our variable shower bars.

How can I improve the flexibility of the hose?

If the hose is still rigid after installation, carefully run warm water through it in a controlled manner.

In case you don’t know: Our hansgrohe Isiflex shower hoses feature a swivel that helps the shower hose to move, preventing it from twisting.
