On 11 December 2023, new building product information requirements (BPIR) will commence in New Zealand.
The Building Amendment Act 2021 introduced new minimum information requirements for impacted building products to demonstrate compliance with the building code, with the intention to improve product knowledge and decision-making by building consent authorities, building owners, builders and designers.
The regulations place obligations on Aotearoa NZ-based manufacturers and importers of building products to provide building product users with key information about their product, including its performance and compliance with the NZ building code.
